Alliance Environmental Group was called in as a subcontractor to remove stucco that had tested positive for asbestos from one corner of a three-level, wood-framed condominium complex. The removal in Phase One of the project is for destructive testing, which involves selective demolition of building materials to expose structural integrity issues. Alliance is working with the project’s structural engineer to determine the cause of structural “sagging” in certain areas of the condominium complex.
The precautions that Alliance took in this project to properly contain its work areas helped to minimize liability issues for the owner of the condo structure. Further, the structural deficiencies can now be identified and subsequently addressed by the structural engineer. This project is an example that illustrates Alliance’s professional response capacity, interoperability with other agencies/contractors as well as its ability to handle versatile commercial remediation projects.
