For 15 hours after being tented for fumigation, natural gas slowly leaked into a Torrance home. The resulting explosion – the
equivalent of 200 to 400 sticks of dynamite – sent shock waves through two cities, causing damage to at least 115 homes,
blowing out windows and injuring 10 people. Following the April, 2003 explosion and fire, the surrounding areas were tested for
airborne and physical asbestos that may have been released. Alliance was called to the site after identifying asbestos in duct
insulation and roofing materials. The successful cleanup and removal of all asbestos-affected debris was completed within two
working days.
