Bedbugs are Back!

Written by Alliance Environmental

Between the incident with the Los Angeles Clippers in Oklahoma City or the British Airways flight to London, bedbugs are back in the news!

Before unloading your suitcase, it is recommended to do a basic bedbug inspection.  Place your suitcase in a safe space, either outside the hotel room door or in the bathtub.  Start your inspection with the mattress, as this is the most common area for bed bugs. Gently remove the sheet and mattress pad inspecting the four corners of the mattress and box spring.

Another important place to inspect for bed bugs that is often overlooked is the luggage rack or valet. Inspect carefully, concentrating on cracks and crevices. Bed bugs maybe found on the luggage rack if they have come in on other travelers’ luggage.  If bedbugs are found, immediately request a new room that does not share walls with the current unit.

Should you transfer bedbugs back to your personal residence, it can be extremely difficult to eliminate them.  In the past, most sufferers of bedbug infestations have chosen to attack using chemical treatments.  Although this is a cost-effective solution, there is another, greener option – ThermaPure Heat.

ThermaPure Heat is an incredibly effective way to kill the bedbugs, including the eggs.  It is the only non-chemical method used to successfully treat an entire structure.  With chemical treatments, the resident would have to remove all soft goods, bag their food, and have a multi-day relocation.  With ThermaPure Heat, all of the items in the residence remain inside, and residents can return immediately after treatment.

Our technicians ensure the affected location is heated to the appropriate kill temperature for a set number of hours.  We use an internal monitoring system to kill not only the bugs, but also their eggs.  We will be inside the location moving items around, to create a life-sized laundry dryer in order to achieve the kill temperatures inside all areas of the residence.

Upon completion, the owner, pest control company and/or the resident will receive a printout of the interior temperatures to support peace of mind that kill temperatures were achieved.

Alliance’s ThermaPure Heat can partner with your current pest control company to ensure maximum fighting effort.
