National Philanthropy Day

Yesterday was National Philanthropy Day and we have a couple of star philanthropists in our midst: Carlos Sanguinetti and Matt Teeter!

You might remember Carlos and Matt as the guiding forces behind the Ronald McDonald House Dinner with Friends, which will be taking place again this spring, in support of the Ronald McDonald House of San Diego. Here is some of Carlos’ story:

“In June of 2009, Carlos was diagnosed with testicular cancer. He has since made a full recovery, but this life experience caused both Carlos and colleague Matt Teeter to reevaluate their contributions to the community. They both shared the same vision of helping others in need. Carlos had heard good things about Ronald McDonald House Charities and in September of 2009 Carlos and his wife Shana organized our first volunteer event on behalf of the organization – we had the pleasure of serving dinner to the deserving families staying at RMHC. It was an incredibly rewarding opportunity and everyone involved had a great experience.”

This year, Carlos and Matt got a special invitation:

“National Philanthropy Day is a special day set aside each year to show appreciation for all that has been accomplished in the Culture of Philanthropy. It’s a way to recognize people who are making a difference in San Diego. We would like to invite you to join us at the Ronald McDonald House table that day, as a way to recognize and thank you for the difference you’ve made in the lives of our families. I know Cheryl and I are always telling you how much we enjoy working with you, but we wanted to say “thank you” in this special way. We would be honored if you would join us as our guests.”

We are so happy that Carlos and Matt have been recognized for the amazing work they do for Ronald McDonald House of San Diego. Last year’s Dinner with Friends raised over $19,000–a 132% increase over 2012’s fundraising–and this year is bound to be bigger than ever! You can help! Watch the blog for more information or Like us on Facebook (you can see more photos of the luncheon, too) and Follow us on Twitter and you will get all the latest news about Dinner with Friends 2014 as soon as we have it!

Thank you for your support! And congratulations again, Carlos and Matt! You are awesome!
