2025 Project Spotlight: Hospital Lakewood – Fire Door Repairs & Life Safety Compliance

Client: Hospital Lakewood
Service: Comprehensive Fire Door Repairs & 100% Life Safety Compliance
Location: Lakewood, CA

Project Overview

In July 2025, Alliance Environmental Group completed a full-scope Fire Door Repair & Compliance Project for
Hospital in Lakewood, supporting the hospital’s commitment to patient safety, life safety compliance,
and Joint Commission readiness.

Across four floors—including the Basement, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd—Alliance inspected and serviced
139 fire-rated doors, restoring each one to full NFPA compliance. Of the 139 openings inspected,
91 doors required repairs, all of which were completed successfully, resulting in
100% passing compliance.

This work was performed in accordance with:

  • 2012 NFPA 101 (Life Safety Code)
  • 2013 NFPA 80 (Fire Doors & Other Opening Protectives)
  • 2010 NFPA 105 (Smoke Door Assemblies)

Challenges

Healthcare facilities pose unique fire and life-safety challenges—constant foot traffic, aging infrastructure, and
the need to maintain operational continuity. The hospital required:

  • Multi-floor coordination with clinical, facilities, and safety teams
  • Repairs on a wide range of fire and smoke doors, including high-use corridors
  • Strict adherence to NFPA standards and hospital safety protocols
  • Zero disruption to patient care and hospital operations

Achieving 100% compliance across 139 openings is a significant challenge in any environment, but especially within an
active hospital.
