Project Overview

Alliance Environmental Group was engaged for a large-scale roofing project at Bellflower Towne Center, requiring the removal of approximately 140,000 square feet of roof material. The abatement scope needed to be carefully coordinated with an active roofing contractor to ensure continuous progress and minimize exposure to the elements.

Given the size of the property and the logistical complexity of a live roof replacement, detailed planning and tight execution were critical to keeping the project on schedule.

Challange

The primary challenge was synchronizing asbestos abatement with ongoing roof installation activities. The project required:

  • Removing 140,000 SF of roofing material
  • Coordinating sequencing with the roofing contractor
  • Minimizing weather exposure to open roof sections
  • Maintaining schedule across multiple moving crews

With large commercial properties, improper sequencing can lead to delays, water intrusion risks, and cost overruns.

Solutions

Alliance Environmental worked closely with the roofing contractor to develop a phased abatement strategy.

Our team:

  • Created a structured game plan to divide the roof into manageable sections
  • Abated approximately half of the roof at a time
  • Cleared each section promptly to allow roofing crews to immediately begin installation
  • Maintained continuous communication to keep both teams aligned

This coordinated approach allowed for seamless transitions between abatement and roofing operations.

Results

  • 140,000 SF of roofing material safely removed
  • Roofing replacement completed in a timely manner
  • No significant weather-related damage to exposed areas
  • Project delivered on projected completion timeline
