Middle School Basement Remediation Project

Client:
Middle School
Service: Basement Remediation & Contents Removal
Location: Fresno, CA

Project Overview

Alliance Environmental Group was asked to perform remediation work in the basement of a middle school following many years of water intrusion.

The basement was located below ground level and had no source of ventilation, creating a challenging work environment that required careful planning, coordination, and execution. Alliance Senior Estimator Cameron Wagner was brought in to assess the project and help coordinate the remediation scope.

Alliance crews, led by Foreman Hugo Morales, completed the project in two phases, with work finalized on June 10.

Challenge

The primary challenge was preparing the basement for remediation after years of water intrusion and long-term storage use. Before remediation work could begin, the team had to address a significant amount of stored contents inside the basement.

The project required:

  • Working in a below-grade basement with no ventilation
  • Removing more than 200 boxes of old documents
  • Coordinating secure onsite document destruction
  • Removing remaining contents, including file cabinets and shelving
  • Completing the scope in two organized phases
  • Maintaining clear communication and documentation throughout the project

Because the basement had limited airflow and was located below ground level, the work required careful coordination to ensure crews could complete the job safely and efficiently.

Solutions

Alliance first coordinated the removal of more than 200 boxes of documents from the basement. Many of the documents had been stored for years, so Alliance partnered with a local shredding company to securely destroy the documents onsite.

Once the stored documents were removed and destroyed, Alliance returned to perform the remediation portion of the scope. Crews removed the remaining contents from the basement, including file cabinets, shelving, and other materials that needed to be cleared from the affected area.

The project was completed in two phases to keep the work organized and ensure the remediation scope could be performed properly.

Results

Alliance successfully completed the basement remediation project.

The project included:

  • Removal of more than 200 boxes of documents
  • Coordination with a local shredding company for onsite document destruction
  • Removal of remaining basement contents, file cabinets, and shelving
  • Completion of the remediation scope in two phases
  • Clear coordination between estimating, field crews, and office support

Special recognition goes to Senior Estimator Cameron Wagner, Foreman Hugo Morales, and Fresno Office Manager Kathy Robertson for their roles in keeping the project organized, documented, and moving smoothly from start to finish.
