Researchers at the City University of New York did a study on mice. They exposed them to low concentrations of mold spores 3 times a week for three weeks. The results?

After 3 weeks, the subject mice did not appear to be sick. But compared to the control group of mice, they had difficulty remembering a scary place. They also had much higher anxiety than the control group.

“Exposure to mold’s toxins and structural proteins may trigger an immune response in the brain. The findings…may help explain some of the conditions that people living in moldy buildings complain about, such as anxiety and cognitive problems.” Science News
